Portcon Maine has been successfully infiltrated! Many have now heard of the Claw and many will continue after we release our footage through third party channels (Nerd Caliber). Running an underground crime syndicate can be hard, but it has its advantages. We had fabulous turnouts for both our “Costume as Character/Character as Costume,” discussion on Friday and our “Steampunk Meetup,” this morning.
Also got to work with my former associate Dr. Hugo Rapture! A wonderful fellow… at times he can drive me “Batty,” but a sweet man who is able to harbor a few criminals unnoticed. For those that don’t know Rapture and I were shipmates when we were both a bit more Dreadful, but now are simply good friends and he may become an independent contractor for the Claw when we need someone a bit more… Spooky.
Many thanks to the Portcon Staff and organizers for having Ayleen, Rapture, and myself at your event and I hope to hit Maine up some time soon! Lobster boats need “protection,” from time to time right?
BRONYCON HERE WE COME!
Be sure to check out Dogtoon Media for a video of Lucretia Dearfour with The Airship Ambassador during their stint at Aetherfest in San Antonio TX.
Take a look at this shot taken from our friends at Thee Gartisan Works of Leetelou Firehooping at Steampunk Industrial Revolution!
The Copper Claw would like to show some support for a very large scale and ambitious project on the part of some Canadian Steampunks and their Indie Gogo Fundrasising Project to create a Web Series… There’s a good Chance some members of the Copper Claw will be involved… But hey we’re an Underground Crime Syndicate so worst case scenario we just break in!
In one week (June 21-24) Ayleen and I shall be at Portcon Maine. It will be our first time surveying this area as well as the first time The Copper Claw rears it’s head out of obscurity since going completely underground years ago.
We will be participating in two events that weekend:
Costume as Character/Character as Costume
Friday – Friday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Briefly coming out of cover Lucretia and Ayleen will help you out with your Steampunk Costuming! First tip, develop an interesting character! So much of outfitting one’s self is deeply derived from the character they create. Lucretia and Ayleen will discuss the difference between Cosplay and Steampunk costuming, Steampunking on a budget, the basics of character creation, and how to craft a costume design that fits your character.
Sunday – Sunday 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Having never ventured so far North Lucretia Dearfour and Ayleen the Peacemaker would like to get to know Maine Steampunk better! Join us and other Maine Steampunks for good conversation, shenanigans, and maybe some photo opportunities with your favorite New England and New York Steampunks!
We will also be filming some interviews all weekend for Nerd Caliber… you know to keep up appearences and become known as a FRIENDLY Crime Syndicate…
Catch some footage a friend took of Leetelou (The Countess of Cuteness) at Steampunk Industrial Revolution premiering her Fire Hoop!
